The Clear Group is looking for a Director of SME to lead our Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) specialism, helping us deliver exceptional, market leading propositions for our clients across the UK. This role is integral to bridging business strategy and regional needs, enabling growth and enhancing customer satisfaction through tailored product offerings and strategic market insights. With a deep understanding of the SME market, the Director of SME will work closely with regional offices to ensure products align with local dynamics, supporting both the Clear Group’s regional strengths and client outcomes.

How you will make an impact

As Director of SME, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing propositions that differentiate Clear Group’s SME products in the market. You will work directly with regional teams to adapt and tailor offerings to local market needs, equipping them with the resources, training, and support to drive sales and ensure client satisfaction. Your strategic insight will guide growth initiatives, foster insurer relationships, and champion operational efficiencies to enhance the customer journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proposition Strategy: Define value propositions for SME products, ensuring they resonate with customers and reflect regional market needs.
  • Growth & Development: Equip teams with tools, resources, and training for successful SME product promotion, in partnership with marketing for campaign support.
  • Commercial Relationships: Build and maintain insurer partnerships, fostering innovation in product offerings and strengthening market presence.
  • Risk & Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and promote a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Operational Excellence: Champion consistent practices across regions, ensuring efficient, scalable processes for SME products.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Analyse performance data and market trends to refine SME strategies and support data-driven decision-making.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the insurance industry, particularly within the SME market.
  • Strong project management and continuous improvement skills, with a proactive approach to business development.
  • Highly organised and adaptable, with a client-focused approach and effective stakeholder management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) or Chartered Insurer designation.
  • Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII) or higher education in Business, Finance, or Insurance.
  • MBA with a focus on Financial Services or Insurance (preferred).
